Long before brand collaborations, international design stars, or even the Internet, there was Manila FAME (Furniture and Apparel Manufacturers Exchange). The bi-annual design fair has been a laboratory of sorts for designers for the past 35 years, and is the launching pad of local design trends and more recently, important social advocacies. Here’s what to expect at its April 19 to 21 run:

A Design Commune with small and medium-scale enterprises

Renowned designers Tes Pasola, Josef Crisanto, Reine Shih, and Detlef Klatt under the guidance of Tony Gonzales will work with more than 70 micro-, small-, and medium-scale enterprises to create thematic (and dramatic) products and settings that you shouldn’t miss viewing. The theme this season: Patterns and Palettes.

An entire village of creations from different provinces
