Sourcing for Furniture? Support Local Artisans In This 3-Day Online Fair
There will be over 200 exhibitors!
Manila FAME is an event many looked forward to pre-pandemic, and while the physical expo has been put on hold, the Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions (CITEM) has continued the legacy online through FAME+.
This year, CITEM celebrates the initiative's first year online with FAME+ Market Days. From October 20 to 22, buyers can explore what's current in local design, fashion, and business, as well as the works of some of the best artisans in the country. The event is directed by FAME+ Creative Director Vince Uy, and curated by verse design sensibilities is under the direction of FAME+ Creative Director Vince Uy, curated by Architect Aya Maceda of New York-based design firm ALAO, Stenie Coyiuto-Tay of Casa Bella, and Architect Nicole Tan of interior design firm Boon.
The theme for the exhibit is "Light the Way", which is inspired by the Filipino word "maaliwalas". Not only is this a trend in home improvement, but also a nod to the effort of finding balance in one space at a time when many are forced to cocoon.
"We launched FAME+, to serve as a digital sourcing and storytelling platform for the home, fashion and lifestyle sectors," says CITEM Executive Director Pauline Suaco-Jua in a release. "To date, FAME+ has onboarded close to 300 exhibitors and more than 1,200 buyers. Top countries that visit FAME+ are Australia, Canada, France, Hong Kong, and the United States."
While FAME+ Market Days is for buyers, this doesn't mean that you can't enjoy the content of fameplus.com. The site is a great place to explore and discover Filipino brands that carry pieces you can add to your home. Some of those featured supply a link where you can buy them online, as well as information on how you can contact the maker.
