Arnel “Nelo” Coloma from Nueva Ecija is a school teacher and a part-time photographer who has always wanted to spruce up his space. When he finally did, he caught the attention of the internet as the swanky transformation only cost him P50,000.

He admits that he was initially content with how his space looked before, but every photography gig that brings him to posh hotel rooms gets him a little more inspired to upgrade it. “Kapag napapasok ako sa mga rooms, talagang na-a-amaze ako, tapos pinag-aaralan ko kung paano inayosyong interior.”

Nelo finally found time to refurbish his room during the community quarantine, and he managed to do so with a fresh swipe of paint and a few online purchases. While he initially hoped to do the repainting himself, he eventually asked to people to help him out.

The transformation took a little more than two weeks to finish. “Parang nagbago talaga ‘yong room, e. From pale tapos walang masyadong gamit, as in bed lang… Unlike ngayon na naayos ko na siya, talagang it’s a haven for me.
