Rustic Meets Industrial In This 87sqm Home
Working with dark shades and bright colors helped the owners achieve a unit that's worthy of being pinned on Pinterest
For the owners of this unit, change was something they both had to embrace. Initially, they didn’t think of having kids right after getting married, only to find out they were pregnant six months later. After their baby arrived, their old one-bedroom unit suddenly became small for their needs, hence the need to move to a new space.
They made the big move to this three-bedroom, 87sqm condo unit in Taguig, with views from two balconies. They asked the condo developer to turn the barest unit over to allow them to build everything from scratch. Apart from spending lots of time on Pinterest for home design inspiration, they sought the help of interior designer Paula de Guzman.
Collaborating with Paula for the look of their home proved to be a wise decision, as it helped them figure out the styles they wanted the most—touches of rustic and industrial in particular. The couple sourced for the furniture pieces and accessories, keeping in mind their budget. In fact, no item went beyond P15,000! The homeowners’ determination to stick to their budget was impressive; having went to great lengths to do it. “I would talk to at least ten suppliers just to get the best price!” the woman of the house shares.
Working with an interior designer also paved the way for some experimentation, especially with color. The couple was leaning toward dark shades, but working with brighter colors would result into a family home that’s maaliwalas and inviting.
