Relaxing Colors for a 76sqm Condo
Neutral shades, interesting wallpaper, and open spaces change a small second home
For province-based families, investing in a “halfway home” or a place in the city where they can stay for the better part of the week is a great option. In line with this, an entrepreneur mom decided to find a Metro Manila for her daughter’s convenience and safety. To make the most out of the small 76sqm space, the homeowner asked interior designer Kristine Neri-Magturo to create a cozy and comfortable haven.
Since the place is limited, Kristine retained large windows that bathe the space with light and make the space seem airy and spacious. She also opted for white walls and floors paired with soft neutrals like light gray, beige, and blue with warm wood accents. Keeping the common areas open is another way to make the condo seem bigger than it really is: to mark the living and dining areas, patterned wallpaper is used instead of solid walls.

Silver and blue Morrocan-patterned wallpaper detail frames the living area, separating the space from the rest of the 76sqm condo. It even adds more color and print to the simple design scheme. The inviting blue armchair and blue and yellow throw pillows on the beige sofa also serve as pops of unexpected color.
The living room windows are covered in white roll-up shades that cast shadows on the furniture. The unexpected play of patterns is an interesting sight.
For a consistent look in the living and dining areas, a calming white and blue color palette is used for both spaces.
Streamlined pieces fill the dining area, from the glass-top dining table surrounded by four white seats to the slim wooden console at the side. Natural light that shines through the windows adds warmth to the stark-white interiors for a relaxing appeal.
In the parents’ bedroom, white is also used from the floor to the ceiling and for the comfortable bed topped with fluffy pillows and silky-soft sheets. Even the roller blinds covering the huge windows are in immaculate white. A playful lime and green pattern on the accent wall makes the space bright and vibrant.
The space beneath the bed is used as additional storage space to keep linens and other bedroom essentials.
In the compact bathroom, the cabinets above the sink and countertop are fitted with mirrors that reflect the light and create the illusion of a bigger space. Using a neutral palette also makes the area seem bright and airy.
Since the daughter who studies in a college in Manila stays in the condo the most, she is the one who occupies the master bedroom.
The space opens with a study corner that also acts as a divider for a heightened sense of privacy.
In the main sleeping area, pink and red stripes on the wall create a fun and youthful appeal. The bed is highlighted with a white fully-upholstered tufted headboard.
The daughter's personal belongings are kept safe and secure in this white console.
