Modern meets Classic Style for a Three-Storey Condo

A corporate mom unleashes her creative side with her best DIY project: her family home

Young mom Kaye Gancayco finds a break from the corporate environment by submerging into the art of do-it-yourself crafts, and the three-storey condo she shares with her husband Joao and their son Bacchus might just be her biggest and most successful project yet.

One of the biggest considerations in designing the house was their son. Thankfully, the couple was a perfect combination of interior designer and structural engineer. Incorporating Kaye’s initial theme of a country home, the house contained various wooden installations and wooden planks. Vintage accents, Victorian and classic, are also present, punctuating rooms with a strength that balance out pastel tones, which dominates most of the house. An exception to this pastel palette is the family room, which is swaddled in graphic black and white patterns.

A patterned green wall welcomes you to the Gancayco home.

The living area has hints of the opulent that are swiftly balanced out by the kid-size furniture, making the room elegant yet practical.

Modern Victorian furniture accents the pastel palette of the room with gold linings and its big size and elaborate cushion design.

Consistent to the Modern Victorian theme, the vignette that runs between the dining and living room is adorned by cushioned ottoman stools from an exhibit put out by the graduating interior design students of PSID.

The Victorian chairs in the banquet dining area with gold detail were found online.

His Royal Highness chair and the Audrey chair were put up to the center to represent Kaye and Joao. Meanwhile, the wall print is lyrics from a popular Carpenters song. Kaye had the words laid out on the computer and had the output printed out in large format.

The counter was built for additional space for buffet and baking. Wooden planks are used to give off a country feel.

The white walls blend seamlessly with the rest of the area and doubles as a storage space for essentials like plates, glasses, and other utensils, as well as the modern Victorian frames mounted on the wall.

High ceilings and a large family portrait defined the staircase of the three-storey condo unit.

A window bench lined with plush toys as well as a car mobile from Hobbes and Landes and cute car boxes scored from a blog in Multiply is the center point of Bacchus’s room.

Another notable accent to Bacchus’s room are the wooden crib and customized alphabet drawer, keeping the vintage theme and complementing the pastel tones of the room.

The master bedroom is awash in muted hues of turquoise and brown, Kaye’s favorite color. Accentuated by pretty lamps from Landmark, the room is both modest and elegant.

A break from the burst of colors from the entire house, the family room is an entirely different universe with its black and white patterns, with doses of green and red, and cowhide, scallop, and leopard prints coexisting in harmony.

The statuesque green chairs in the foyer defines the rather romantic patio. Kaye bought them at a student exhibit.

A door with green and white stripes is another charming addition.
