Function and Style in an Investment Condo Unit
Basic doesn’t mean boring; especially in the case of this 60sqm home
After her family invested in a 60sqm condo unit, Sandra took it upon herself to spruce up the place to lure in prospective tenants. Thinking she only needed to buy the basics to create a home out of space, she acquired herself a sofa, dining and coffee tables, a bed, and a few necessary appliances. But once she put them all together, she was very displeased saying that it was “pangit.” She finally sought the help of her friend, gallery owner Albert Avellana, to make the space homey for their future clients.
Sandra only requested that Albert keep the space simple—allowing the condo to cater to a variety of possible tenants. The challenge meant working with the existing layout. Not being allowed to knock down any walls, Albert had to decorate the space so people would naturally feel at home in it. Building from the pieces that Sandra had already bought, he added a few more items and rearranged everything to form the condo unit as it is today. Now the space is filled with character, thanks to the addition of homey elements such as plants and accessories. Although very basic, the unit is already a beautiful home any tenant would be happy to live in.
