How can you create the perfect home for a young couple and their three-year-old daughter? As with any space, you must always consider the budget, space, lifestyle, taste, and preferences of the homeowners. You can still pull off most of the usual designs that the parents prefer, but you must also create a special space for the child.

In the case of this two-bedroom unit for a lawyer and a jewelry shop owner,  Joel Salazar and Paul Baes of Lucina Home drew inspiration from French design for the shared living, kitchen, and dining areas. On the other hand, interior designer John Vigilia defined the daughter's bedroom with a colorful Bohemian style.

This space was designed as part of this year’s Real Living Space at the Avida Towers Centera showroom in Mandaluyong. To learn more about Real Living’s signature event, visit

The two-bedroom unit came with these light-hued wooden panels and unique wall sconces. Joel Salazar and Paul Baes of Lucina Home kept these elements to set a dramatic mood in the hallway.

Dining Area Wall

The hallway leads to a dining area that doubles as a mini library! Wall-mounted shelves hold books, paintings, decor, and faux plants.

Dining Area

The dining area is furnished with a hand-painted dining table and three dining chairs that are all available at Lucina Home.

Living Area

Who says that you can't use big furniture in small homes? Just like they did in the dining area, Joel and Paul chose large-scale pieces for the living area.

The striped wing chair, three-seater sofa, escritoire, and other classic finds make the tiny space feel posh and luxurious.

Work Corner

Since the wife owns a small jewelry store, she needed a space for designing, creating, and storing her precious baubles. To make the ideal work corner, Joel and Paul placed a brightly hued escritoire or secretary desk and an accent chair beside the living room window.

The secretary desk is available at Lucina Home.

Master Bedroom

Interior designer John Vigilia stepped in to transform the bare master bedroom and daughter's bedroom!

To turn the master bedroom into a cozy haven for a young couple, John chose a mattress from Uratex and a winged headboard with metal studs from Home Matters. The classic gray bed sheets were purchased at Dwell Studio.

Master Bedroom

To personalize the master bedroom, artwork and decor were displayed on a black chest of drawers from Home Matters. If you have a similar piece, it can also be used to keep clothes and belongings.

Daughter's Bedroom

While the rest of the home has a rustic yet elegant appeal, the daughter's bedroom has a surprisingly eclectic look.

To instantly change the space, John painted the walls with Granny Orchard Green from Boysen. He adorned the walls with colorful artwork by Vian Ponce. He also furnished the area with different pillows, a blue foot rest, and a blue pouf from L'Indochine.
