When innovations manager, dentist, and chef Dennis Hipolito purchased his own 50sqm loft-type unit in Manila, he wanted to incorporate elements inspired by urban-style homes that he lived in in New York, Chicago, and San Francisco.

To fulfill the homeowner's request, interior designer Wilan Dayrit chose a cool modern industrial design for the one-bedroom unit. He also made the most of the small area by replacing the old staircase with a space-saving spiral staircase. He even added new storage options, including a shoe rack, wall-mounted shelves, and cabinets with nearly invisible doors.

Living Area

How can you maximize a teeny-tiny home? You can consider replacing a usual sofa with a daybed or a trundle bed from ATL Furniture or Asian Tropical Lifestyle! A piece like this is great because it can be used as a comfortable seat or an extra bed.

In front of the trundle bed is a unique industrial-style coffee table from Triboa Bay Living. A table like this is also ideal for small spaces because it seems to take up less floor area.

Koi Origami Photos

According to interior designer Wilan Dayrit, the accent colors for this bachelor pad were inspired by these framed photos of koi origami made by Swiss origami master Sipho Mabona.

Dining Area

The dining area is furnished with a wooden dining table and industrial-style dining chairs.

If you look closely, you would see that there are actually hidden storage cabinets behind the dining set-up! These concealed doors make the space appear bigger than it actually is.

Spiral Staircase

To free up more space in the 50sqm bachelor pad, Wilan removed the old staircase and built a spiral staircase in another corner.

The spiral staircase is complemented by a grand dome light from Christofer Laurent and European Citrall-style iron and glass panels.

Master Bedroom

For the master bedroom, the homeowner specifically requested for a white brick wall inspired by loft-type apartments in New York.

The bedroom is completed with an upholstered headboard and a bed dressed in white pillows and taupe sheets.

Home Office

Wilan turned a bare corner in the master bedroom into a practical work area for the homeowner. In this space, a framed print by pastry chef and artist Penk Ching hangs above a sleek writing desk by ATL Furniture.
