A Sleek and Modern Minimalist Dream Home
This small condo unit packs a punch with its streamlined design, space efficiency, and eco-friendly furnishings
It isn’t difficult to reach one’s dreams, if one has clear goals set from the beginning. For Nelson Canlas, he has always dreamed of a modern, minimalist home that’s relaxing in its bareness. His 41sqm condo with a monochromatic theme is a refuge for the busy news correspondent. Despite its size, the condo is not left wanting in space, storage, and oomph. Interior designer Jeng Buluag exercised creativity in designing storage spaces that are sleek and space efficient as well as in developing ideas that are out of the box and visually arresting.
The duo’s main collaboration is the elevated bed with an aquarium headboard – a showstopper for this pad. Since the condo is located at the 23rd floor of a high rise building, Nelson is afforded a view that overlooks the city skyline and the Sierra Madre mountain range. A bonus for this small unit are the storage spaces under the bed. To go with his well-thought-out space, he also chose appliances that are eco-friendly – an important consideration in these times when energy-efficiency, sustainability and eco-responsibility are top of mind.
