A One-Bedroom Unit Transformed into a Two-Bedroom Home
The designer of this 45sqm condo in Manila created a functional space with an urban contemporary appeal that's perfect for its young occupants
It may seem impossible to squeeze in an extra bedroom in a 45sqm unit, but interior designer Angelo Aguilar made it happen in this condo unit in Manila. Aside from allotting enough space for the living, dining, and kitchen areas, he also created two inviting bedrooms where the occupants can relax and study. The vision was to convert the condo unit into a two-bedroom home with a functional living area. The owners wanted the look and feel of the unit to be similar to an executive hotel suite.
Since it’s a corner unit with a panoramic view of the majestic Manila Bay, Angelo made sure that the windows will be maximized. Natural light fills the space and makes it more homey and charming. To avoid a cramped feel, the designer also used sliding glass doors. This design move proved beneficial as the unit looks bigger while defining the different rooms in the space. Most of the furniture pieces were bought from Furniture Source and Furniture Republic, while the décor and accessories are prized SM Home and Our Home finds. To stay within the project’s budget, the designer also sourced and purchased a few items in Soler Street, a well-known shopping spot in Binondo, Manila.
