A Bright and Spacious 36sqm Condo Unit in Makati

There’s no denying the rise in popularity of rental homes. With just a few clicks and taps on your phone, you’ll have hundreds of options to choose from—each with amenities you can’t miss, a location that’s hard to beat, and an overall vibe that you’d want for your own space. Given the tough competition, those who invest in units for rent need to step up their game by offering something different and memorable to guests. In renovating this 36sqm, one-bedroom condo unit in Makati, interior designers Kimi Manuel and Athena Maramag worked on an inviting look with a cozy vibe. “It was the client’s preference for a mid-century and Scandinavian-inspired condominium unit. It’s fitting because the unit was renovated to become an Airbnb lodging and these styles are very appealing today,” says Kimi. After finding out that many guests love simple and contemporary units, the client decided to go for a similar look, but comfier and more functional.

Kimi and Athena made sure that the light and airy feel can be appreciated in every corner of the unit. To complete the space, they also had to source for pieces that don’t just blend with the theme. “Everything in the space has a purpose. The furniture and accessories weren’t simply placed because they look good. In designing with simplicity and balance, the space encourages ease of use. This is important for guests who come from different backgrounds. Guests, whether Filipino or foreign tourists, are comfortable to move around and enjoy the amenities,” the designer explains.
