Working with a black-and-white color palette can be a great choice. With the right combination of furniture and home accessories, this particular color scheme can improve the look of any space.

In the mid-century of artists Romain and Tanya Rivierre, the timeless black-and-white combination leaves a lasting impression. The  blue walls and green borders on all the windows and doors were replaced with white walls and black borders. The couple also chose to reupholster old furniture pieces in the same hues for a uniform effect.

The black-and-white front door gives visitors an idea of what to expect, just as the foyer introduces the design theme. A gilt catalogue cabinet matches the golden hue of the chandelier.

In the lanai's living area, the form, texture, and patterns of the predominantly-black sofas, area rug, throw pillows, and side table help each piece stand out.

Salvador Dali clock

A clock influenced by the melting timepieces of Salvador Dali adds to the charm of the space.

A small den near the front door can serve as a waiting area for guests who need to use the powder room. The den can also double as a guest room and a place to keep the children's cribs and strollers.

To liven up a blank wall, a bejeweled mannequin's torso is matched with a novelty deer head.

Powder Room

The light gray walls of the powder room is complemented with decorative pieces like a small bust made of rope, a circular mirror, and even a white trash bin with fancy handles.

Living Area

This sitting area is furnished with all-white furniture pieces (console table, rocking duck, and rocking chair) for a light and clean look.

Aside from imbuing a scent, candles can add a sense of warmth, intimacy and drama to any room.

Dining Area

In the dining area, an ornate glass chandelier hangs over a simple black dining table with matching chairs. The dining set rests on a single long-pile area rug.

Dining to Kitchen

The couple initially thought of retiling the kitchen floors when they saw the checkerboard linoleum in some obscure street in Pasay. Linoleum is easy to clean and maintain and it also creates a focal point in the space.

Breakfast Nook

In the breakfast nook, white walls and floor tiles make black furniture pieces stand out. For a charming effect, a console table with shelves is adorned with letter cutouts inspired by Alice in Wonderland.
