A 97sqm Art-Inspired Two-Bedroom Condo Unit
With its airy atmosphere, happy vibe, and cheerful colors—this home has everything you need to stay cozy and live easily in the middle of a busy city
When designing a space, it’s quite common to use a place, a lucky thrift store find, or even a work of art as a peg in achieving a dream haven. Such was the case for this two-bedroom unit in Makati, as the owner specifically noted Spanish artist Joan Miró’s The Hunter (Catalan Landscape) as the inspiration for the look he wanted. With the 97sqm unit serving as a blank canvas, The Style Hobbyist Julienne Cruz slowly brought the painting to life with happy colors, locally made pieces, and upcycled must-haves. “It was like recreating a highly inspired artwork into another form of artwork that is livable,” she says.
As you enter the space, natural light welcomes you and lets you appreciate the common areas. Working with a Mid-century modern theme as base, Julienne took into consideration the painting’s colors and shapes, then translated these into the accents and furniture incorporated into the final look. Aside from its inviting bedrooms, charming kitchen, and a living area where you can hang out for hours, this well-thought-out haven also showcases an incomparable view of the city skyline—a fitting reward after a long day.
