A 29sqm One-Bedroom Condo That Will Transport You to the Beach

There are different things one can do in two weeks—finish deadlines, take a social media sabbatical, explore a new country, or even take a quick trip to the beach or any local destination. But can you transform a condo unit into a resort-like hideaway given the same time frame? Some may have misgivings and others would squirm just at the mere thought of doing all the sourcing, shopping, and actual work in such a short period of time.

For The Style Hobbyist Julienne Cruz, the idea of breathing new life into an ordinary fitted and furnished condo unit came as fun and challenging—especially since she’s working on her sister’s investment property. Given the two-week makeover period, the tight budget, and the close coordination with her sister who’s based in the UK through Viber—the place was truly a labor of love. Beyond the airy and welcoming feel of the space, it also pays homage to the craftsmanship of our local furniture makers as most of the wooden pieces were purchased from sash factories located along the Tagaytay-Silang road. Inspired by the unparalleled beauty of El Nido, Palawan—the home is everything that Julienne and her sister wanted it to be—cozy, relaxing, and renter-friendly.
