This Plantita Turned Her Living Room into an "Indoor Jungle"

She covered it with big plants and plant-related decor!

Having to spend more time indoors inspired Mitch Gatdula to create her own plant paradise at home. "I've decided to create a scenery close to my heart [that helps] me escape from the crazy COVID world out there. It's my sanctuary, my safe place," she tells Real Living.

Every corner of her living room is covered in different types of ornamental and fruit-bearing plants. "I am very partial to big plants. I like having them inside my house because it makes me feel I am in a jungle," says the proud plantita. To achieve that tropical vibe, she placed most of them in woven planters and added other plant-themed decor like printed pillows.

While having this many plants indoors seems like a lot of effort to maintain, Mitch reveals that her plants are very low-maintenance. She shares, "I just water them twice a week. They get ample morning sun in the living room. You just have to show them that you love and care for them by talking to them, paying attention to them and playing some music every single day SPP (Spotify Plants Playlist)!"

When asked about how she sources her plants and decor, she says, "The economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic cannot be overstated, that's why I always make sure to hunt for bargains when buying anthing especially my plants. I have a regular suki in Greenmeadows who's always gracious to offer deals. I also make trips as far as Laguna and Bulacan to discover hard-to-find plants without breaking the bank."

Overall, Mitch highly recommends creating a relaxing space like this in their home. "This is the best place to hang out after your WFH duty," she says. And with how soothed we are just by looking at the photos, we can't find it in ourselves to disagree.
