This Pinay Turned a 1996 Van into Her Own Mobile Home
Harry is a registered nurse in Canada. Unfortunately, he had to sell their house and car after losing his job due to the pandemic. “Nabaon kami sa utang," he shares in an interview with Summit Media. This pushed Harry to live minimally with his family.
Inspired by the tiny homes he saw online, the dad of two thought of turning a van into their home. He shares, “Kung pandemic dapat magii-stay ka sa isang lugar ‘di ba? Baligtad ang nangyari sa amin. Because of the pandemic, nag full-time van life kami.”
Together with his wife and his two kids, Harry crossed the border and went to the United States. They’ve been happily living in their camper van for two months now, inside a state park.
For the registered nurse, one of the perks of living in a van is it brings him closer to nature, which helps him de-stress. “Yung trabaho ko stressful kasi nurse ako ‘di ba? Pero paguwi ko, tanggal kaagad yung pagod [ko] kasi parang nasa bakasyon [ako].” But most importantly, it also brought his family closer together. “Grabe yung bonding namin. Talaga ‘yun ang nakakatuwa.”
