Store Of The Week: My Breathing Space

Find out why this home of quirks in Cubao Expo is worth the visit

When it comes to interior design, gone are the days when one would simply stick to traditional furniture pieces and one-color themes. Today, it's all about being adventurous and adding character. What better way to do that than to add unique pieces in your home that showcase your personality?

One store that's a gold mine for one-of-a-kind knickknacks is My Breathing Space. Founded by Gard V. Calub, the store is dubbed as "the most special gift store on this part of the earth" with over 6,000 pieces of collectibles that you can't find anywhere else.

From a complete lineup of The Icons (The Beatles, Elvis Presley, James Dean, Audrey Hepburn, Marilyn Monroe, Princess Diana, Michael Jackson) to more contemporary characters like Harry Potter, Dr. Who, and Star Wars, MBS has it. The secret to their well-curated collection? "We only allow the things that we like to enter the store," Calub says.

The place was named after co-owner Gener P. Valerio's published book in 2006. Contrary to what people think, My Breathing Space is not a thift shop but a specialty novelty store. All of the items in-store are brand new and have been sourced from all over the world. Calub, Valerio, and their team travel accross the US and UK to select and hand-carry the items back to Manila.

Unfortunately, you can't order MBS products online. If you are looking to buying a couple of things, better grab them now because most of these are available in limited quantities.

My Breathing Space is located at Cubao Expo, Socorro, Cubao, Quezon City.
