Urban Abode first launched its showroom in 2013 and now moved into a bigger space. This well-loved local brand offers furniture and décor, as well as consultations on furniture and interior design. “Urban Abode launched as a furniture and décor store. But from the very first day of our launch, we were receiving inquiries for interior design, which surprised us because we were not marketing ourselves as an interior design firm,” recalls Mike Magturo, who heads the brand’s business operations.

This rustic-industrial home store sports a beautiful, wooden paneled door you can't miss. Upon entering the showroom, customers are welcomed with the foreign vibe of the wide space that boasts a bigger floor area filled with furniture pieces and décor. The high ceiling also adds to the airy ambience.

“Warm industrial meets rustic chic” is what they use to describe the shop. The interiors are still decidedly very much industrial, there are subtly incorporated additions that will surprise the buyers—one vignette, for instance, shows off a rustic coffee table and an ikat-printed, tufted sofa flanked by modern granite-topped side tables framed in gold metal. “It’s not really yung modern na clean, it’s just not as rustic as the old one,” says interior designer Kristine Neri-Magturo.

Apparently, the design style has become a hit locally, making Urban Abode one of the go-to stores if you want to nail the industrial-rustic look. However, the couple didn’t want to be confined to just one style. “Honestly, we didn’t want to be put in that box. I also think it wasn’t fair for Kristine to be pegged in that box because she actually leans towards a very modern style,” Mike elaborates. This “new flavor” is evident in the selection of furniture peppering this 60sqm space.

The space is clearly brimming with many home accessories. Various furniture pieces made of different materials occupy the floor, while small decorative items line the shelves on one wall that features red bricks. Meanwhile, the loft serves as Kristine and Mike’s office.

RL Picks: Accent Chair; Ceramic Vase; Geometric Trays; Pedestal/Side Table, all prices available upon request.
