Shop of the Week: Gus* Modern
Gus* and Blu Dot pieces share the spotlight in this Greenhills showroom

A little over a year after opening the Gus* showroom in Makati, entrepreneur couple Anne and Alvin Young didn’t just put up another branch, but brought in another exciting brand as well.
“We brought Blu Dot to the Philippines to add a fresh new line of modern furniture that would complement our current line. The pieces mix well and look good together (with Gus*),” says Anne.
While the Canadian label Gus* is known for its eco-friendly furniture pieces that highlight natural finishes and modern-organic forms, Blu Dot from the United States boasts hip, smart designs that mostly appeal to young urbanites. With the modern style as the common thread, the two brands delightfully coexist at the crisp and airy two-storey Design Pod in Greenhills designed by interior designer Van Acuña.
Breeze through Design Pod’s range of trusty couches, such as the Spencer Sofa with blind tufted seat and the mid-century-inspired Carter Sectional Sofa from Gus*; chairs and stools in solid, punchy colors, like Blu Dot’s Real Good Chair in aqua and Gus*’s Pawn Stool in endlessly happy yellow; and functional pieces with witty twists, like the Prairie Nesting Tables from Gus*, which feature the shapes of the three Canadian prairie towns. If you’re looking to shop for finishing touches, consider Blu Dot’s Watt Table Lamp and the down feather throw pillows from Gus*.
