The First-Ever Self-Checkout Counter in the Philippines Is in This Supermarket

All Day Supermarket has launched the first self-checkout counter in the Philippines. This can be found at All Day Supermarket in Evia Lifestyle Center along Daang Hari Road, Las Piñas City.

A self-checkout counter is a system where customers can scan their grocery items and pay for them without the assistance of the cashier. The customer will also have to pack the grocery items bought as well, without the assistance of the supermarket employees.

All Day Supermarket's self-checkout counter works pretty much the same way: Shop for the grocery items in the store, scan the items at the designated checkout counter, pay with your card (or other contactless modes of payment), and pack your own items.

In a post by Manny Villar, he says that this new technology will make grocery shopping more efficient. He says, "These self-service kiosks will enable our shoppers to shop and check out at their own pace with an added layer of safety, as it lessens the interactions between our customers and our store personnel especially now during this time of the pandemic."

Self-checkout counters are famous in other countries like Australia, Japan, and the United States. Now, we can experience it through All Day Supermarket at Evia Lifestyle Center. Hopefully, more All Day Supermarket branches and other supermarkets soon offer self-checkout, too!
