What makes the shopping in Divisoria different from the mall stores is the challenge of combing through the dizzying array of home products-everything from kitchen utensils, inexpensive dŽcor, to all sorts of fabrics-while dealing with the Manila heat and chaos. Whether you traverse the streets of Soler, Roman, Tabora, Juan Luna, and Ylaya, or stick to the air-conditioned comforts of Tutuban and 168 Malls, expect to find value-for-money stuff here (but haggle first).

Dangwa Street blooms the whole year round, with stalls after stalls offering fresh flowers and foliage you can buy as is or arranged to your liking. On non-peak seasons, a bunch of assorted flowers costs P120, astomerias for P80, and roses for P90. Most stores also sell accoutrements for sprucing up your own bunch: flower baskets (P50 to P100), glass and ceramic vases of various sizes (P80 to P250), and flower sponges. Note that prices skyrocket to triple during occasions such as Valentine's Day and All Soul's Day.

Dapitan Arcade

At the corner of Kanlaon and Dapitan Streets is one of Manila's best-kept shopping secrets for houseware and decor. Don't let the off-key location and palengke-like faade fool you. Dapitan Arcade offers export-quality and overrun items that range from country porcelain bric-a-bracs to kitschy neon-colored Buddha busts. Prices can still go down, depending on your haggling smarts.

Cubao Expo

The quaint compound formerly known as Marikina Shoe Expo now goes by the name Cubao Expo, home of independent, concept shops.  Stop by home haunts such as My Breathing Space for assorted collectibles like figurines, mugs, and old movie posters; Grand Thrift Shop for antique furniture

Ethan Allen

Pioneer Street is home to the upscale, American furniture label Ethan Allen, known for its classy, timeless pieces. Choose among its stylish, finely crafted couches, beds, dining sets, and accessories. Its sister brands Miele appliances and Tempur beds are also housed in the same compound.

Crayzee Factory Sales

You wouldn't miss this new home store along Pioneer Street as its signage "crazee"-ly screams at you in the face when you pass by. From the window display, you could pretty much establish that this place is a hodgepodge of affordable home goodies. Assorted seating pieces are lined up just outside the store's entrance and vases and dining sets greet you upon entering the shop. You can get decor items like wall clocks for just P200, and a decorative full-length mirror for a mere P4,500

FMF Compound

This factory-style compound houses Regalong Pambahay and Komodo Teak Furniture. Komodo is the place to go for solid, weatherproof teak dining sets, console tables, and daybeds, in a variety of styles. The prices match the pieces' quality and fine craftsmanship, though discounts as high as 20% are given. Meanwhile, the main Regalong Pambahay showroom is filled with beautiful, color-themed decor and some furniture pieces. The open-plan, cozy interior would make you leisurely go through all the items they have. And since this branch is their factory outlet, the store sells 20 percent off on all items.
