Planning to invest in a new one? It pays to know the price range of the best sofas in stores today. Interior designer Vera Villarosa-Orila shares these tips:
Q: We are looking for a new sofa. What’s a reasonable price range for a good-quality piece?
A: The price of a good sofa can range from P25, 000 to more than P120, 000. This will depend on the brand and the type of materials used. Things to consider when buying a sofa are the upholstery, foam, springs, and frame. Choose fabric that is durable but isn’t rough on your skin.
Upholstery must be firm because the softer types bought at a lower price range tend to sag easily. For springs, the eight-way hand-tied kind is best. And lastly, for the frame, choose kiln-dried hardwood. Anything made of particle board, plastic, or even pinewood is not of good quality.
