Enter Miniso or any other Japanese discount store and your P100 impulse shopping budget will eventually balloon to P1,000—or more! Miniso recently opened its latest branch at the second floor of SM Megamall, and we know that more people will be flocking to it for cute finds.

But before you buy yet another pink makeup brush or a pair of panda bedroom slippers, perhaps you’d want to shell out a bit for useful household pieces and home accessories. Their home items are not only affordable, but of good quality too (a far cry from those flimsy bangketa buys). Here are the items you should look out for:

BELOW P300

The sizes are perfect for tiny condo closets, and the colors are better than your basic beige or white. From P299

Alarm clocks

Your cellphone probably has an alarm, but these stylish, modern alarm clocks are better to look at than a message-filled phone. P299

Vacuum jugs

We love these jugs that look like those classic Stelton jugs by Scandi designer Erik Magnussen, but in lovely Millennial colors (and at a fraction of the price). There are also glass teapot-and-cups sets that sell for the same price. P299

Microwaveable food containers

These are made out of glass, thus making it more eco-friendly, and nicer to look at than plastic containers. P299

These don’t have lids, but we are loving the animal prints and graphic designs. Great as gifts, too. P99 each
