5 Things You Need For a Truly Pinoy Summer

Treat yourself to these all-natural, refreshing, and affordable summer products at Kultura Filipino’s weekend bazaars

Before gearing up for your Holy Week getaway, or snuggling up for a staycation at home, get yourself summer-ready by heading to Kultura Filipino’s Naturally Pinoy Summer Bazaar at the Mega Fashion Hall this weekend.

This special summer bazaar will inspire you to discover local (and buy local) products for yourself and your home. Shop for homegrown fashion brands like Islas Filipinas, Tropiko, and La Obra, and indulge in all-natural personal care products from the likes of Oryspa, Cocobody, and Daila. While you’re there, try out the Filipino food as well at Theo and Philo chocolates, Gourmet Farms, Tropical Fruit and Winery, among many others. Here are Real Living’s Pinoy picks from the bazaar:

Aromatherapy that smells like a lush, provincial garden.

Evoke memories of your lola’s lovely garden replete with bahay na bato covered with sampaguita vines with Isla Oriente’s unique fragrances. Their room and linen sprays and eau de parfum come in traditional Filipino flower scents like citrus-y ylang-ylang, nostalgic sampaguita, and romantic jasmine.

Insect-inspired accents that remind you of a bukid.

Home-grown aromatherapy company Atin gets “Best In Product Name” with their scented soy candles called “Tipaklong,” “Salagubang,” “Paru-paro,” and “Tutubi.” Their packaging design is delightful, and can add a delicate, contemporary-Pinoy accent to the home.

Home décor made out of indigenous materials.

A Filipino-style home won’t be complete without décor made out of indigenous materials. Check out Kultura’s finely handcrafted, decorative home accessories made out of capiz, Philippine hardwoods, tribal fabrics, and shell inlay.

All-natural beauty products made out of a Bicol nut.

These essential oils, body oils, and lip balms from Pili all carry Bicol’s “secret ingredient:” pili oil, which hydrates the skin. Elemi oil, on the other hand, is extracted from the pili resin, and helps the skin maintain firmness and elasticity. Pili’s lip and cheek tints come in trendy colors, too.

Beach-ready (and beach-wedding-ready) Filipino accessories.

What’s summer without a trip to the beach or better yet, a beach wedding? Shop for beach mats from Lagu, pineapple-printed tote bags from Bags In The City, abaniko, and elegant Kultura clutches made out inlaid shell, embroidered piña, abaca, and Philippine hardwoods, all at the Naturally Pinoy Summer Bazaar.

Visit Kultura Filipino’s Naturally Pinoy Summer Bazaar, held in partnership with Philippine Airlines/Mabuhay Miles at the ground floor of the Mega Fashion Hall, SM Megamall, from April 6 to 9, 2017, or catch it at the Main Hall Atrium of the Mall of Asia (MOA) from May 18 to 20, 2017. Visit Kultura Filipino’s Facebook page for more details.
