Just fifteen years ago, you’d be hard-pressed to find stores where you can buy fine, imported furniture off the floor—you’d have to order the pieces, three months in advance. These days are different, as top international furniture brands have opened shop, one after the other, offering quality (authentic!) pieces from Europe and other parts of the world. Here are three that have opened in the past month:

Timeless, relaxed, quality pieces: Flexform

You can spot a Flexform sofa from a distance—it is elegant in form, modern and sleek, and stylish yet casual. When you sit on it, you sink into premium upholstery or buttery leather, becoming one with the sofa, and immediately experiencing a feeling of total relaxation.

The first Flexform flagship showroom has finally opened on the interior designers’ street of Nicanor Garcia in Makati, and it doesn’t disappoint. The spacious, two-storey showroom is the perfect venue for the Italian brand’s low-slung sofas, comfortable beds, and finely crafted tables and chairs of hardwood and natural stone.

Vignettes are arranged in beautifully styled living, dining, and sleeping areas for customers to get the full experience of Flexform products (most of which have been designed by the likes of Joe Colombo, Paolo Nava, and Antonio Citterio) at home.

Aside from the timeless elegance and quality of each piece, one of Flexform’s owners Giuliano Galimberti mentioned at the launch that another key feature of Flexform is that each furnishing could easily pair with any other piece in the collections. “There is harmony in the pieces, and you will see that each one goes with anything else in the showroom,” Giuliano says. Here, a Zefiro marble-topped table goes well with Antonio Citterio’s woven Tosca armchair, and a leather Isabel bed marries nicely with Cabare night table, and vice versa.

Flexform is located at 215 Nicanor Garcia St., Bel Air 2, Makati City, or follow them on Instagram

Premium Italian brands in one store: Kuysen

The almost-30-year-old Kuysen Enterprises is best known for their bathroom products, but little did we know that premium international furniture brands were quietly housed in their store along E. Rodriguez in Quezon City. They recently launched these brands to the public in their brand-new Kuysen-Hansgrohe Flagship showroom at the Eton Residences in Greenbelt.

In the sprawling, atmospheric showroom (located across Greenbelt 1), designers, homeowners and design enthusiasts can marvel at wardrobe systems by Porro, test the ambient lighting of Slamp and Vibia, and see the luxury furniture pieces from Baxter, the iconic Zanotta, the sculptural Ceccotti collection, the playful products of Paola Lenti, the supremely comfortable sofas of Living Divani (main photo, above right) and more.

Some of the standout pieces at Kuysen are the exquisite leather creations of Baxter furniture (above). Made out of fine bull skin, their tufted leather sofas and chairs are buttery-soft and incomparably comfortable.

Another noteworthy brand is the 60-year-old furniture brand of Ceccotti (above). Its highly collectible, handmade wooden pieces by noted designers such as Jaime Hayon have an organic-modern, almost sculptural quality to them.

If you’re looking for outdoor furniture for your tropical home, then go for the whimsical and colorful pieces by Paola Lenti, which uses natural and synthetic materials to produce weather-resistant furnishings in funky colors and shapes.

Visit the Kuysen-Hansgrohe Flagship Showroom at Units 1, 2, and 6, G/F Eton Residences Greenbelt, 122 Legazpi St., Legazpi Village, Makati City, tel. (02) 955-1531 to 32

Fun and functional: House of Ital

We’ve said it before, our homes reflect our taste and lifestyle. From the big pieces to the tiniest of accessories, we make sure that each addition is worth it and follows the theme we have in mind. It’s this same belief that led owner and managing director Jam Chan to build House, a high-end furniture concept store. “We will help you style your space, and make it feel like home with our pieces that are fun, functional, and reasonably-priced. Living your style is possible with House,” she shares.

Dropping by house can save you a lot of time when it comes to sourcing for items you can add to your space. Aside from having a variety of furniture pieces that can suit any style, it also has options for lighting, bedding, and accessories. Our favorite part? The Sleep Room! In this special area, customers can experience the different Dunlopillo mattresses to help them find the right one for a restful slumber.

Whether you’re storing books, gadgets, or a collection of CDs, the Hugh Shelf (above) has got you covered. The bonus? With its quirky form, it can double as décor, too!

Add just enough warmth to an industrial-inspired space with the WF-5501-1341T17S 2-seater sofa. Make it extra inviting by adding two to three pillows and a throw.
