This local brand brings metal wire home furnishings to a new global level

Established in 2013 as a trademark brand of manufacturing company Kalikasan Crafts, the Antipolo-based brand Schema which showcases woven metal wire furnishings, has already exhibited in international trade shows such as the Maison&Objet Asia and Manila FAME.

This comes as no surprise as each piece made of metal wire is carefully hand-woven by local artisans at Schema, resulting in products that have a unique character of their own. These meticulously manufactured items are now on display for the local market to appreciate and take home. “We have always wanted to communicate our design and craft know-how to a wider audience, and one of the means to communicate effectively is by expanding our presence in the domestic market,” relates chief operating officer Jego Luis Jiao.

Schema’s showroom, which was designed in collaboration with Concept 28 Architecture and designer Ken Reyes, is awash in textured white walls that clearly allow the details of each product to stand out. The beehive pattern of a group of droplights, for instance, easily catches your attention. It also helps that the pieces are styled in clean vignettes, with minimal accessories playing second fiddle to the already statement-making lines of bent and woven wires. Jego explains, “Schema focuses on the use of metal wire as its primary medium for its lighting, furniture, and decorative accessory product range. Using metal wire, we develop various hand-woven patterns that retain the honesty and purity of the raw material.”

Customers are greeted by this vignette, which hints on what Schema has to offer: lighting pieces, décor items, and furniture all made of hand-woven metal wire. All boast sinuous lines that make each item stand out without necessarily clashing with each other.

These floral lights provide both accent and illumination in the small conference room behind the counter of the showroom.

Schema is known for its striking lighting designs, as seen in these honeycomb droplights that are part of its newest collection.

This minimalist setup, albeit in neutrals, quietly grabs attention. The floor lamps, as well as the solihiya-patterned weaves of the droplight and chair, are a testament to the malleability of metal and its many possibilities.

Schema is located at 2/L Robins Design Center, Meralco Avenue, Ortigas Center, Pasig City. You can call them at 736-5641 or send them a message at info[@]
