Shop of the Week: Atelier Aguila

Recycled wood furniture pieces that are great for the home and the environment

Original Article: Sunshine Selga Funa Photography: Vincent Coscolluela Pictorial Direction: Dagny Madamba

Atelier Aguila specializes in contemporary art furniture made of salvaged wood. According to owners Karl and Phanie Aguila, they use wood from demolished old houses and century-old railroad sleepers. They also use driftwood, excavated timbers of prime wood, antique limestone rice, and corn grinders from remote villages.

Since Karl is a sculptor and furniture designer, each piece is treated like a work of art. The console and dining tables, as well as the coffee table and benches, all appear as if they actually belong to an art gallery. Even small items like throw pillows and tabletop decor are bound to serve as showpieces in any room. Atelier Aguila proves that reclaimed and upcycled organic furniture pieces and home décor are not just kind to the environment – they are also amazing additions to any home.
