It's full of surprises that are totally unlike your usual basic Scandi IKEA finds
Open an IKEA catalogue and you’re sure to see timeless, Scandinavian-sleek furniture pieces in pale wood, neutral colors, or eye-popping primaries. But not in the IKEA 2019 catalogue, which offers surprising products that are beyond basic. Here’s what we saw in a preview of their online catalogue:
Blush—lots of it
There was an entire section on blush-colored (or Millennial Pink, if you prefer) objects, and the sweet-but-modern Gradvis vase in the middle is an early favorite.
Did we mention that this particular catalogue has fabulous styling? There is a dusky, Moroccan-sands feel to this spread in the blush category, and that sectional sofa is just so small-space-friendly.
Eco-sensibility
Another part of the IKEA catalogue focuses on eco-friendly solutions and sustainability, and features receptacles and dividers for indoor gardening, storage for those who work at home, and catchalls for recycling.
Maximalism
The theme caters to magpies and collectors, offering cabinet-of-curiosities-type of storage, antique-style finishes, and a layering of textures and pattern.
One surprising theme in the catalogue is the “Where More Is More” home concept, which deviates from the current craze for minimalist living—totally different from their usual Scandinavian-clean sensibilities.
We especially love the Maximalist kitchen, which has touches of Steampunk thrown in.
