These pieces will remind you of nostalgic summers in your lolo and lola's home
Have you ever wished you could encapsulate a moment in time and turn it into your home? Interior designer Kristine Neri-Magturo did exactly that with her new IDYLLIC: Days In The Sun summer collection for Urban Abode.
The designer’s favorite things, most of them culled from her childhood memories, inspired the collection, which she transformed into functional and practical, modern-day pieces. Here’s a sampler:
The whimsical but luxurious Arden Swing chair recalls summer vacation memories spent on old-fashioned swings in one’s backyard. The colorful paisley pillows are by Kyla Olives for The Olive Tree.
This Keller Chair in solihiya (cane weave) was inspired by Kristine’s memories of the solihiya chair she used to sit on as a child as she listened to her grandmother’s stories. The 2018 version is sturdy enough to be used as a dining or study chair.
Remember those rounded midcentury-modern versions of the rattan chair? The Krasner Chair is a reinterpretation of that classic chair, and has proven to be an early crowd favorite.
Urban Abode is a family affair, with Kristine’s husband Mike at the helm of the operations, and their young son didn’t miss out, as the little boy’s doodles of a pterodactyl have been transformed into graphic prints for these (aptly named) Pterodactyl pillows!
Kristine recalls the darling peacock headboard in her aunt’s bedroom, which was such a staple of the ‘70s. This memory made her create her own line flamboyant peacock headboards; such as this semi-circular Laroche peacock.
