Do you find yourself sneezing more in certain parts of your home, or have you every woken up to see weird rashes in certain parts of your body? Then your space may probably have dust mites.

Dust mites are tiny, microscopic creatures that eat the dead skin cells you shed. In fact, according to Healthline, “1.5 grams of dead cells…can feed up to one million dust mites at a time.” So imagine how many dust mites there are in your home that have been causing your sneezing fits.

While it’s more or less close to impossible to totally get rid of them, you can at the very least lessen their numbers.

Make it a habit to wash your beddings weekly. To kill dust mites, make sure to first soak them in hot water prior to washing or if your laundry machine has a hot wash option, allow it to spin for at least 15 minutes.

Another way is to keep the surfaces in your room dust free. Also make sure that your mattress is regularly dusted. Drizzling a bit of baking soda on it and vacuuming it of after 10 to 15 minutes can help, and if you’re looking for an effective vacuum, we found one from Sharp that specializes on sucking up dust mites.
