Appliance Maintenance: 3 Tips for Your Freezer

When it comes to completing the home, appliances take a huge chunk of the budget. To make the most of your investment, it's important that you keep it in tip-top shape. One of the most used appliances at home would have to be the freezer. Maintain it well with these quick tips: 

Defrost regularly

Inspect the freezer to see if you need to defrost it already. Check the walls—if you see about half an inch of ice on the sides, it's time to defrost already.

RL Tip: Take out the contents of the freezer one by one before defrosting. If you have food items inside, it's best to keep them in a cooler or ice box to preserve its quality while you're cleaning.

Keep it clean

Once you've defrosted the freezer, take time out to clean it too. Clean the insides and wipe it thoroughly. Vinegar can be a great disinfectant too! Mix a half cup of vinegar with baking soda. Use the solution to clean your freezer before wiping it with a damp cloth.

Store food properly

Avoid spills and funky smells by storing food properly. Use airtight containers and Ziploc bags to preserve the freshness. Don't just place items inside the freezer. Arrange them per kind and stack containers properly so you can get what you need easily.
