Quezon City Taps Malls for More Accessible Vaccination Sites

Quezon City will be holding vaccination dry runs in four malls to make the inoculation process against COVID-19 easier and more accessible to its residents.
The sites will cater to residents registered through barangay-assisted bookings, such as senior citizens and individuals with co-morbidities who are not capable of booking appointments online.
According to Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte, these barangay-assisted bookings were prioritized in the following new vaccination sites: SM City Sta. Mesa and Robinsons Magnolia on Tuesday, and SM City Fairview and Robinsons Novaliches on Wednesday. SM City Sta. Mesa borders Manila and Quezon City.
Apart from providing and preparing the venue, mall management will also provide medical staff for the vaccination program. Sites will cater to residents in other areas and their staff who belong to priority sectors.
Belmonte said in a statement that this is a "win-win situation" as more residents will be vaccinated and the move hastens economic recovery.
"Our private partners provide us with venue and manpower. In return, we provide them vaccines and supervision in administering these. These partnerships not only help ramp-up our vaccination drive but also increases foot traffic in commercial areas that can help businesses recover amidst the pandemic," said Business Permits and Licensing Department head Margie Santos.
