Making Manila a Walkable City, According to Mayor Isko Moreno
The Mayor of Manila shares the biggest factor that can change a city.
“Habits ng tao. It’s the biggest challenge,” Mayor Isko Moreno said during an interview with Summit Media editors when asked about the difficulties he faced in improving the streets of the City of Manila for pedestrians and motorists alike.
The Mayor is known for clearing out parts of Divisoria and Recto, where vendors have habitually encroached on thoroughfare for years.
“There’s a habit of corruption in the area,” he explained. “Blatant na mali, pero nag-e-exist… ‘Yong mali na nakasanayan na, naging tama. So ang ginawa ko ibinalik ko lang ‘yong lumang tama.”
