In Case You Missed It, Pasig's Emerald Avenue Brings Back Car-Free Sundays

Metro Manila's roads are still far from being 100% bike-friendly. We may have bike lanes, but cars are still occupying the extra space; or, worse, these lanes have pot holes or bumps that can endanger any two-wheel rider. But cities like Pasig are doing their best to make their place more pedestrian-friendly and bike-friendly, which includes the relaunch of Open Street Sundays along Emerald Avenue on November 21 now that Alert Level is down to 2.
Every Sunday, the whole stretch of Emerald Avenue is closed to cars from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. This gives pedestrians, bikers, and joggers to walk around the public space for some exercise.
"Ito ay isa sa mga paraan para madagdagan pa ng open public spaces sa lungsod na pwedeng puntahan ng mga tao nang libre," the Pasig government said in a post.
The public is reminded that minimum publiic health standards, such as wearing of face mask and social distancing, are implemented in the area.
