This Fancy Dorm in Ateneo Is an Upgrade From Most Dorms in the Metro

Enrolling to an elite and reputable university in the Philippines isn't typically cheap. For instance, the tuition fees at Ateneo de Manila University—the top Philippine university in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2023—can reach up to more than P100,000 per semester.

Those fees may seem steep at first, but it's a little hard to argue when you see their picturesque campus and top-of-the-line facilities. Apart from the huge Rizal Library and the IG-worthy Ateneo Art Gallery, one campus spot that students love to rave about is the International Residence Hall.

Established in 2019, this on-campus dormitory is the newest building among Ateneo's four on-campus living spaces. The five-story building houses a 310-bed facility open to undergraduate and graduate students, as well as faculty members and guests.

FYI, local students are allowed to reside here as well! In fact, Ateneo encourages local and international dormers alike to hang out together and learn about each other's cultures in the process. That's why one room is typically shared between one local dormer and one international student!

Each room has two semi-double-sized beds with mattresses, cabinets, study tables with chairs and bookshelves, an air conditioning unit, a refrigerator, an intercom, one toilet and bath with a heater, a ceiling fan, and Wi-Fi. Beyond the spacious rooms, the residence hall also features cool common areas for dining, lounging, and entertainment!

Given how ~swanky~ this dorm is, it costs about $1,650 for one person every semester. That's about P90,500, inclusive of monthly allowance for utilities and association fees! Rooms are also open to transient guests for P1,500 to P3,000 per room daily. Basically, staying in this dorm costs just as much as the base tuition fee per semester.
