Are You Ready for the Big Move?

Moving in to your new home can be nerve-racking if not done in a systematic manner. What do you pack together? Do you just stuff everything inside boxes and label each accordingly? Here are a few easy reminders that can make moving less stressful:

Haul the basics first.
Unpacking things is a tedious process that can drag on the longer you put it off. As a rule of thumb, when you finally start on the herculean task of unpacking in your new home, you must have with you toiletries and at least two sets of clothes within easy reach. The sense of order may not be there yet, but at least the basic necessities are well taken care of.

Pack your belongings wisely.
Don’t overwork yourself by trying to pack everything in one weekend. Instead, create a reasonable schedule and stick to it. Tackle your belongings by area or by category. Better yet, edit your possessions by following the “keep, toss, file” method while you pack.

Skip the big, brown box.
Instead of storing your items in a cardboard box for a one-time use, opt for sturdy boxes with lids that you could reuse as storage in your new house. You will be saving on packing tape, cardboard boxes, and space.
