3 Reasons Why You Should Build a House in the Province

Living in the rural areas has its perks, too!

There's something so exciting about homes in the provinces. Imagine the lush landscape and being welcomed by fresh air! Just the mere thought of these makes you want to immediately build one for you and your loved ones.

If you are still unsure whether building a home in the province is a good investment, interior designer Rochelle Granali shares a couple of reasons why you should consider this move:

Lower cost of living

Tired of the rat race? The pace is definitely more laidback in the province. "The air is fresher and the place is not as saturated compared with cities," shares Rochelle. Building a house in the provinces means you get to enjoy an affordable cost of living. Labor and materials can be cheaper, plus, depending on the area, real estate taxes are lower too.

Better-made structures

With provincial developments focusing mostly on house and lots rather than condos, homeowners have the opportunity to build a home that can literally last a lifetime. As much as possible, invest in the structure of the home. “Elevate the house para hindi bahain,” advises Rochelle. “Use shed-type roofing para hindi mabilis matuklap yung roofing in the event of a storm.”

Abundance of local materials

Different provinces are known for different things so it’s best to showcase what these provinces have to offer. “Kung ano ang distinct materials na meron na sa bawat probinsya, kailangan ding bigyan ng support,” says Rochelle. “If you use these products, you’re not just helping them create a demand for the items, but you’re also helping their economy and tourism."
