RL Makeovers: Living, Kitchen, and Dining areas in a 24sqm Space
Storage solutions, functional pieces, and clever linear decoration for this family’s home
Information technology manager Terei and his wife Nheldz Asido have always wanted to have a cozy and inviting living room that their entire family and friends can share and enjoy. However, the area has been completely taken over by toys, as it became the playroom of their children Maxene, 8 years old, and Zak, 5.
Hannah Acab-Faustino, principal interior designer of IDeal Interior Design Services, decided to revamp the entire first floor of this Antipolo home, transforming 24 square meters of the living, dining, and kitchen areas into a small-space haven.
Before solving the homeowners’ clutter problem, Hannah addressed the bigger issues first. The decade-old house was starting to show signs of wear and tear: the vinyl tile floor was peeling off, and the ceiling and kitchen walls had numerous holes.
Hannah replaced the existing floor tiles with new vinyl tiles and gave the walls a fresh coat of paint courtesy of Boysen. To keep beige from looking boring, and to tie the entire area together, the designer painted the largest wall in the room a shade darker than the rest. She completed the walls with a hand-painted pattern, which she calls “stylized bamboo.”
