Solenn Heussaff, Nico Bolzico's Plain Bedroom Gets an Elegant, French-Inspired Makeover
"It feels like a hotel but still very homey."

In part one of Solenn Heussaff and Nico Bolzico's "home fluffing" feature, we saw how interior designer Cyndi Fernandez and her husband Mado Beltran of Moss Design House gave the couple's living room a modern, minimalist transformation. They used a lot of neutrals, layering beiges and taupes as well as adding some texture to the room. And Solenn loved it so much, she cried when she entered the house! But it didn't end there. It turns out that their bedroom also got a little makeover!

The Moss Design House team wanted to give the bedroom a contemporary Haussmannian vibe, incorporating a lot of French designs into the room. The color story of the bedroom is similar to the living room's: a lot of neutrals with different hues. The walls were covered in a linen texture so it looks more breathable. Overall, the goal was to design the room in a way that's less ornamental, but still impactful upon entering.
To achieve this, they installed a panoramic wall that was printed by Neumuri, which appears above a padded wall behind the bed.
One tip we learned from the bedroom makeover is that not all the lighting should come from the ceiling. Cyndi explained, "Sometimes, there's a glare factor when you're sleeping. Bedrooms are supposed to be [relaxing]. You're supposed to feel very warm and very cozy. You don't have to have so much illumination in this space." So for the bedroom, they incorporated different types of lighting. There's cove lighting by the mural, so it gets all the attention it deserves; there's a floor lamp in the corner; and instead of lamps, they went for suspended lights from Home Cartel.
The team experienced a minor bump on the road, though: The original mirror they included in their presentation was accidentally broken at the warehouse.
Quickly trying to find a solution, they had three potential mirrors to choose from—and all three were brought to Solenn and Nico's house so the designers can check which one goes well with the rest of the room! Eventually, they went with a carved mirror that's so, so stunning!
They moved the area rug that used to be in the living room was placed in the bedroom.
Nico's first impression was: "It feels like a hotel but still very homey."
