We’ve all been there before: furniture pieces and appliances are complete, and we’ve put all our curtains and décor out. But then, you take a step back and think: It looks a little bit overdone? Now don’t be tempted to go out and buy even more furniture pieces; you probably just need a “makeunder!”
Decorator and former Real Living creative director Gwyn Guanzon worked a “makeunder” on Dr. Elaine Salazar’s townhouse living room, which she shares with her doctor-husband and daughter. Gwyn simply edited out furniture, clutter, and excessive color, changed soft furnishings to a lighter fabric and palette, and added an area rug to anchor the space. Because sometimes, in decorating homes, less is really more. Here’s how he did it.
