Like many of us, beauty queen and licensed financial advisor Samantha Bernardo had the urge to give her bedroom a makeover during the quarantine, especially since she needed a dedicated workspace.

“[Samantha has a] 4x4 bedroom with a low ceiling,” her interior designer, Karl Dioso, tells Real Living. “She requested for an area where she can work and attend Zoom meetings.”

“Since we were renovating the space during a pandemic, [our client also asked us to do] minimal construction, so we focused more on styling the room to freshen it up,” he adds. After only a week, Karl was able to transform her tiny space into a tropical-inspired bedroom with an elegant color palette of green, gold, and white.

To maximize the space, the interior designer started off the makeover by rearranging Samantha’s furniture. “I decided to move her bed frame [from the window] to the alcove part of her room.” Karl then covered some of the walls in a tropical print by Neu Muri Wallpaper. Detailed with layered leaves, the printed wallpaper didn’t fail to liven up her entire room, and it also added depth to the space, making it feel bigger than it actually is.

With the new layout, the interior designer was able to make room for Samantha’s proper workspace! “Her work station and vanity space were combined together,” he shares. “We purchased a multipurpose desk that can be used as a vanity station and a working area as well.”

Take a closer look at her newly-decorated home office:

“We made sure that we utilized every single space in her room, so we also installed ledges to display her bags, books, and memorabilias,” shares Karl. “Then, for the accessories, I selected a couple of gold and white pieces to complement the accent wall.”

For the final touch, the interior designer peppered the room with a couple of low-maintenance houseplants, which are housed in white, gold, and neutral pots to match the elegant design of the room.
