Giving new life to old furniture pieces is an easy way to change the look of a space. It also helps you save on costs of having to buy new furniture. If you think refurbishing old pieces would require extraordinary DIY skills, think again! Check out these furniture makeovers that you can do yourselves:

1. Decoupage a kiddie chair and table.

If you still have your kiddie table and chair, don't throw them away! Make them look grownup by decoupaging them with a pattern of your choice. The little table can be turned into a side table, while you can use the chair as an accent in any space.

2. Spice up an old accent chair.

If you have a chair that looks like it has seen better days, it's time to dress it up with a new fabric. You can buy fabric for upholstery at Fabric Life by Larry's. Prepare some foams as well. If you wish, you can also ask your local upholsterer to do the job for you.

3. Repaint an old console.

White gives any furniture piece a refreshing look in an instant. For this DIY project, a can of white paint, paint primer, and sandpaper are all you need. It's also easy to do!

4. Overhaul an old drawer.

This simple makeover involves repainting and replacing the old drawer guides with new ones. When ready, put it in the corner and style a vignette on top of it.

5. Reupholster a chair.

Make a statement by using funky fabric, like this furry one used in this project. Use a staple gun to fasten the fabric to the seat cushion and back of the chair.
