A Cluttered-To-Classy Studio Makeover For A Blogger
Would you believe this studio unit didn't even undergo renovation, or re-painting? Simple organizing and storage did the trick!
In this third part of a series of Elle Uy’s small-space makeovers, the decorator was faced with a unique challenge: to renovate young homeowner Chami Viray’s studio unit into a more relaxing, organized space without any construction, demolition of walls, or even re-painting! “Ang plano namin ay super-simple lang: walang magaganap na construction,” Elle shares. “Pero we are going to change some furniture, and add more cabinets and storage.
Chami, who is a blogger and founder of plus-sized clothing line CHUBBLY, hired Elle five years ago to fix up her former home. “First kasi, ang dami kong gamit, and I needed storage,” she says. “Gusto ko pa rin na in-line siya with my theme…Scandinavian.”
Elle gave the refurbished studio unit a sleeker, Scandinavian-style feel with clean-lined furniture, and accented the whole space with feminine touches of Millennial pink. But the first order of the day in the makeover was to create more storage space. “Yung lahat ng [nakatira] sa mga studio, yun talaga ang problem, yung storage,” admits Elle. “So nagpagawa kami ng maraming cabinets.”
Chami purged some items and appliances she didn’t use, and Elle added kitchen and office towers, more wardrobe cabinets, and a shoe closet by the entrance. Aside from the new storage units, the rest of the renovation was fuss-free. “Konting changes lang, pero visually, malaki na ang difference niya,” the decorator says with pride.
