Your Workspace Can Inspire Creativity and Imagination
Artist and best-selling author Abbey Sy's personal space is the perfect peg
It’s normal to feel like you’re stuck in a rut every now and then, especially if you’ve been dealing with stress, never-ending to-do lists, and other personal challenges. Many manage this ordeal by scheduling trips, revamping the home, or finding something new and exciting to work on. If you’re in need of a push or just a few helpful insights to help you feel inspired, artist and best-selling author Abbey Sy shares her own creative journey and some of the things she learned along the way in her new book, Always Be Creating. From anecdotes and tips, to life hacks and fun activities, the book can be your guide in finding your passion and setting realistic goals for yourself.
One of the best things we love about the book is the chapter that featured Abbey’s workspace. As a creative, we’re sure it’s a must to have a nook where she can feel inspired and motivated. Also known as the ABC HQ, the workspace is a sacred spot for Abbey. “Over time, I’ve reorganized different elements to make it a conducive workspace for me,” she shares. What makes a workspace effective? Some of the elements she lists as musts include a desk lamp, a comfy chair, enough storage, and of course, a work table.
Sprucing up your own workspace? To help you keep your goals in check, you may want to have a mood board where you can showcase your plans for the year and the things you want to accomplish. If you love to travel, you can even put up a map so you can add pins on the places you’ve been to. Add pizzazz to your special corner by displaying prints and photographs you love. Showcase your personality and feel free to bring out some of your collections, too.
Always Be Creating has four enriching chapters to guide you. After helping you find your passion, it will give tips on how to set goals and how you can achieve them, as well as how you can refine your process.
