Take A Peek Inside Puerto Galera's Newest Tropical Escape

For those living in the Metro, Puerto Galera in Oriental Mindoro is a popular weekend getaway option. It's easily accessible by public bus and ferry, has a whole strip of budget hotels and resorts, and filled with no-frills bars and restaurants. The crowd, however, can get a bit overwhelming on weekends. It's a good thing that the island has a few choices when it comes to luxurious four-star resorts, such as Fridays Puerto Galera, which had its soft opening on December 10, 2017.
The sprawling resort lies on Boquete Island (a.k.a. Paniquian Island), which is connected to mainland Mindoro through a 50-meter white sandbar. This means that you can enjoy Puerto Galera far away from the crowd. It's so exclusive that you have the option to go to the island by AirTrav's seaplane. Of course, you can also do it old school and ride the boat shuttle from Muelle Port.
The 77sqm Premier Sea View Room can accommodate up to two adults and one child.
It has a 49-inch Smart TV (with Netflix!), a mini-bar, and coffee and tea amenities.
Fridays has 32 rooms each with a balcony that has a stunning view of the sea, surrounding islets, and swimming pool. The villas also feature cogon-thatched roofs, bamboo finishing, and decor items made with capiz to complete the island resort's Filipino feel.
You can have the beach all to yourself.

If you're able to leave your room (it will be hard!), you can try out the various water activities available on the island. The long list includes kite surfing, wind surfing, wake boarding, riding a jetski, island-hopping to at least three different beaches, snorkeling, and sailing. Mindoro also has some of the most amazing dive sites in the Philippines, ideal for those who love the deep seas. There's even a separate diving pool in case you want to brush up on your skills before heading out into the surrounding shipwrecks and underwater canyons.
