This New 58sqm Boutique Hopes to Sustainably Elevate Your Coffee Experience
This brand tries to close the recycling loop when it comes to coffee pods.
If you find yourself at The Podium in Ortigas, then you may want to drop by the newly-opened Nespresso Boutique, the second local home of its popular espresso machine lines. Done by Universal Design Studio, this 58sqm space is inspired by one’s coffee journey, from exploring beans in its sensory corner (which will be made available once the pandemic is over) to the coffee farm-inspired floor tiles and lamps.
The space celebrates your favorite brew’s origins, with surfaces in soft creams and rich browns that offer an elegant atmosphere. One highlight, however, is the set of tabletops which were created from used coffee grounds and wood sourced from reforestation programs.
Another is a decorative line of or patterned tiles created from used Nespresso pods, which were done in partnership with the Negrense Volunteers for Change (NVC).
Nespresso is all about becoming more and more sustainable. During the launch, Patrick Pesengco, Managing Director of its local distributor Novateur Coffee Concepts, explains how they have worked hard in closing the recycling loop. Aside from partnering with NVC, Nespresso has also been working locally with Katipunan Metals Corporation, which utilizes used coffee pods made from aluminum, and turns them into blocks to sell as raw materials.
“Every innovation and sustainability solution is a means to a greater end: to benefit the earth, improve lives in the community we belong to, and encourage others to do the same,” he says in a release.
This is why it’s important for Nespresso Club Members to participate in the brand’s recycling program.
