Are you looking for an outdoor activity you can do on weekends and on your days off? Masungi Georeserve in Rizal has expanded their offerings to go beyond the popular Discovery Trail that lets you trek around the reserve and the Legacy Trail that lets guests immerse in nature. Masungi GeoreserveÂnow offersÂan outdoorÂexperience dubbed Garden Picnic.
Compared to the Discovery Trail and Legacy Trail, the Garden Picnic is more relaxed which is perfect if you're bringing the family or kids along with you.
Here's what you can expect of Masungi Georeserve's Garden Picnic experience:
This includes a 20-minute stroll surrounded by lush native trees passing through the Rock Garden, semi-shaded walkways, and seasonal streams and cascades with the guidance of Masungi Georeserve's local ranger.
After the stroll, you can take a break at the designated picnic place.ÂMats and throw pillows are set up amongst towering trees with sunlight peeking through, and a whole lot of fresh airâjust some of the things that are considered a luxury if you live in Metro Manila.
Here, you'll be served a Sandwich Platter (locally sourced, of course!), a tea tasting session featuring select native plants, and you'll also be handed a picnic guidebook.
The sandwich platter includes a chicken dill sandwich, root crop chips (from taro, potatoes, and sweet potatoes), bagoong aioli dip, salsa dip, seasonal fruits, and grilled vegetable sandwich you can request if you have dietary restrictions.
The tea tasting session will include hibiscus tea (a.k.a. gumamela), ginger tea, banaba with mint tea, and kayumanis and blue turnate tea. If you didn't know, kayumanis is a local cinnamon tree!
The Garden Picnic experience lasts for an average of 3 hours and the guided activities will only last for 40 minutes, so you have enough free time to do something you've wanted to do at your own pace, all while you're disconnected from your phone, laptop, and life in Metro Manila.
You can try birdwatching, yoga, meditation, journaling, drawing, reading a book, taking a nap, or playing games. Just remember to bring the necessary materials or equipment for it before you're scheduled trip to Masungi Georeserve!
How to book Masungi Georserve's Garden Picnic Experience:
You can request a visit via Masungi Georeserve's website. The schedules for the Garden Picnic experience are plotted for 9 a.m., 10 a.m., 12 p.m., and 1 p.m. (timeslots change depending on the day).
A Garden Picnic experience costs P7,500 and can be divided between a maximum of (5) five guests per group. If the group has less than five people, the group will still need to pay for the unoccupied slot/s so it's best that your group consists of exactly five people. Payments can be made via Bank Of The Philippine Islands (BPI) or PayPal (additional charges may apply).
