Donna Pita: This Stylist Uses Her House For DIY Experiments
Whether it's growing vegetable gardens or refurbishing old furniture, this Real Living Style Spotter has tried it all
Freelance stylist and DIY maven Donna Cuna Pita’s sprawling, 350sqm family house that she shares with her husband Patrick and their two children has all the elements of a dream home: it has an open, airy layout, contemporary-cool décor, and a lush backyard garden.

But behind the beautiful home is a story of hard work, saving up, making do with what was available, and just being maabilidad. In spite of the house’s design-savvy looks, most of the building and decoration are tipid finds: the furniture are secondhand finds from online and Viber groups, vintage shops, and neighborhood garage sales. The rest are DIY projects that she created using a can of spray paint and some free time.
Donna’s mother Diane is an avid gardener, and this influenced her interest in gardening. She eventually planted—just from cuttings and seeds from grocery produce—a small edible garden of tomatoes, eggplants, kangkong, kamote, and assorted herbs. “Knowing where your food comes from and getting them fresh and for free are just some of the benefits of backyard farming,” she says.
