RL Reader of the Week: Irene Evangelista

Our RL Reader of the Week shows us her home and reveals what she loves best about Real Living

Our RL Reader of the Week is Irene Evangelista. Irene lives in San Pedro, Laguna. She has been reading the magazine since 2008.

Real Living (RL): What do you love best about Real Living?

Irene: I get a lot of ideas from Get the Look. It  motivates me to improve our home and turn it into a Real Living-inspired space.

RL:  What are the biggest lessons that you have learned from Real Living?

Irene: I've learned that a tight budget is not a problem and should not discourage anyone from beautifying their homes. Rather than spending a fortune on expensive furniture and decorations, one should make use of [their] talent and skills. The key is to be creative. I personally like repurposing old furniture pieces, visiting thrift shops, playing with colors and "DIY-ing" our decors.

Entertainment Cabinet

A white entertainment cabinet houses the TV, CD players, CDs and other essentials for a quiet night at home.

A mosaic lamp is placed in one of the nooks in the entertainment cabinet.

Bike Gallery

Different bikes are mounted on the wall near the living room.

More than storing cameras out of sight, these precious items are kept on display for family and guests to enjoy.

Piano and Guitars

An electric piano and a couple of guitars are found in one of the corners of the home.

In the dining room, the blue shelves are filled with different pieces like glasses, mugs, and other collectibles.

The two-door refrigerator is covered with magnets from different tourist destinations and photos of family and friends.

Resting on the kitchen counter is an herb cabinet filled with potted herbs and condiment bottles.

Work Area

One of the rooms in the house is used as a work space for designing and sewing clothes.

The outdoor space is furnished with a round table surrounded with four chairs. The area is perfect for enjoying a cup of coffee or an afternoon snack.

In another corner of the lanai, the wooden seats serve as an area for resting and relaxing.

In the bedroom, the bunk bed is completed with a slide, an addition that the kids love.
